Edge Focus Design is led by Adam and Russ, two career engineers who are passionate about technical expertise and precision, no matter the industry they are serving.

LEADERSHIP

Adam Marten

Partner

Principal Engineer

Adam Marten has worked in the aerospace and consumer products industries since 2006 with lead engineering experience in conceptual design, product development, analysis and performance qualification testing.  A complete description of his background can be found on LinkedIn.

At Edge Focus Design, Adam has experience leading a range of technical projects, including multiple structural analyses for military and aerospace applications.  He has also worked directly with engineering teams to develop medical devices and laboratory instrumentation.

Prior to joining Edge Focus Design, Adam was a lead development and analysis engineer for spacecraft life support and auxiliary hardware systems delivered to Boeing, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Orbital Sciences and NASA.  He developed and tested systems involving spacecraft pressure control, ambient temperature control, fire detection and suppression, external LED lighting for vehicle navigation, and air purification. Adam has also developed multiple systems that have been launched to the International Space Station, including the Veggie project that NASA launched in 2014.

Throughout his career, Adam has designed lightweight products that withstand extreme vibration loading.  He has extensive experience in computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, and structural component design.

Russell Manzke

Partner

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Russell Manzke has worked as a mechanical engineer in the aerospace, medical devices, scientific instrumentation, and consumer products industries since 2000. He served as the technical lead on many complex electro-mechanical systems and led multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, designers, and programmers. A complete description of his experience can be found on LinkedIn.

At Edge Focus Design, Russell commonly leads product design and development efforts. He's championed the design and testing of a consumer fitness product, and has delivered multiple projects related to automated laboratory instrumentation and medical devices.

Prior to joining Edge Focus Design, Russell led the development of complex aerospace systems for government and commercial customers such as NASA, Boeing, Orbital Sciences, and Bigelow Aerospace. He was the technical lead for several spacecraft life support platforms, including a high-pressure, fuel cell-based oxygen generation system. He developed and tested multiple biological experimentation payloads that have flown missions aboard the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. Russell has also led projects for innovative solutions for government agencies such as the USDA and FDA.

Russell has experience with medical devices and personal fitness products. At GE Healthcare, Russell was part of a product development team that developed new variants of the Tec 6 Plus anesthetic vaporizer and Aladin2 cassette. At Johnson Health Tech-North America, Russell developed new and innovative platforms and components for mass-produced fitness equipment. He led a global team of senior engineering staff and was the primary liaison between Product Marketing, Industrial Design, and R&D-Advanced Mechanics teams.

Russell has also worked on complex scientific instrumentation. These systems require producing an ultra-high vacuum environment, cryogenic temperature, and strict vibration isolation. Other important aspects of these systems are careful material selection, sophisticated finishes/coating, and other design considerations specific to ultra-high vacuum environments.
